GEORGE HARGREAVES
Perhaps one
of the most influential modern-day landscape architects, George Hargreaves belongs to
the new class of designers espousing the ideas of Landscape Urbanism. This philosophy
is driven by the belief that cities should be arranged and planned based on the
designs of their landscapes, incorporating ecological preservation and function
into the design process, without it being the sole source of design
inspiration. The winner of numerous design awards, George chaired the
Department of Landscape Architecture at Harvard’s Graduate School of Design before
placing a greater level of attention on his design firm, Hargreaves Associates.
